Real-Time, Cloud-Based Monitoring

Presented by: Bruce White, American Environmental Specialists, Huntington Beach, CA

The use of remote sensing equipment to achieve real time useful information has been limited to few devices, locations, and limitations. Costly systems integration was required; never a turnkey solution. This case study presents use of real time cloud based monitoring during construction adjacent to a hospital. Through the use of this system, critical areas were monitored and predictive event levels established to auto-notify decision makers. This session includes live a demonstration within the conference venue of devices and auto notification alert system operation. Attend and provide your email/text to receive an event alert!

This session will provide attendees with valued information on: 

Advantages to Cloud Based Data Monitoring 

Compatible Instrumentation 

Notifications, Alarms, Data Mining 

Equipment & Data Operations 

Versatility for Consultants, Owners, Service Providers

Healthcare Facilities throughout the United States must comply with a multitude of regulations including Joint Commission-Environment of Care Standard, Facility Guidelines Institute, ASHRAE, State/Local Healthcare Regulations, Air Quality District emission requirements. The ability to perform real time data monitoring has been limited to expensive permanent installation of equipment, or reliance on third party consultants and equipment rental sources. A problem with this process is, should certain parameters be exceeded, it becomes a historical event once the data gathering and sifting through measurements.

This session will demonstrate how one Healthcare Facility was able to address the strict standard of dust control for and existing healthcare facility, while construction of the new healthcare facility was being constructed within 100 feet. The existing structure was a twelve story facility, and the new construction is a five story facility, necessitating excavation for two floor beneath grade.

With the use of remote sensing equipment, assemblde to interact with a GPS, Modem, and Thiamus sensing device, the presenter was able to track and monitor twelve sensitive receptor sites (ICU, OR, ER, NICU, OB/Gyn, CCU, Entry, HVAC, etc.) without having personnel on the site. Setting certain parameters, and setting predictive notifications.

During construction certain conditions could be correlated to construction activities, or the result of internal operations using remote monitoring and attendance verification. This allowed for action based changes to construction operations or technology as the building process continued.

This session is designed to assist those in similar type situations, where data retrieval and incident analysis may play a critical role in the outcome for certain population groups, or facility operations.

This includes: 

Health & Safety Practitioners 

Risk Management 

Facilities & Maintenance

Operations Managers 

Energy Operators 

Environmental Consultants 

Construction & Infrastructure Segments 

Equipment Manufacturers

The source for the materials in this presentation include regulatory guidelines, photographs, data tables, equipment used, and operational process with real time on site Conference Demonstration.
