Help Us Prevent Lung Cancer Through Radon Mitigation

What we need: $6,000 to $14,000 to fix 4-8 homes for low-income families in Southern Maine.

Why we need your help: Since the Fall of 2019, the Maine Indoor Air Quality Council has been partnering with WindowDressers to test the radon-in-air levels of low-income homes in southwestern Maine. This region of Maine has some of the highest levels of radon in the state, with numerous documented radon-in-air test results in excess of 100 picocuries per liter – 25 times higher than EPA’s recommended action level. Wow.

Statewide testing data helps us estimate that between 4 and 8 of these homes will require mitigation, for a total expenditure of $6,000 to $14,000.

Your donation of any size on #GivingTuesday takes us one step closer towards achieving that goal to protect vulnerable Maine families from lung cancer due to radon exposure.
